Trainer for Kids - T4K Phase 1

Guidance for erupting teeth and habit correction

The pre-orthodontic Trainer for Kids (T4K®) is a single-size, prefabricated dental appliance that incorporates both myofunctional and tooth positioning characteristics. The T4K® is designed for treatment in the mixed dentition, while the permanent teeth are erupting and the child is still growing.

Phase 1 is soft and flexible, which gives the best compliance, adapts to any arch form and malocclusion, as well as optimises staying in place at night. Progress to the Phase 2 appliance only when the Phase 1 is staying in overnight and nasal breathing has been established. For children with more severe breathing problems who are unable to breathe through their nose, the Myobrace®K0 should be used first as a transitional appliance.

T4K Phase 1 Design Features

The design features of the T4K® Phase 1 are ideally suited for the initial correction of any malocclusion (except Class III) in the mixed dentition, while also helping to correct the breathing and soft tissue dysfunctions that are the cause of it.

Directions for Use

The Trainer appliance is to be used for one to two hours each day, plus overnight while sleeping. The patient's teeth may become slightly sensitive in the early stages of treatment. This is quite normal, however, if pain becomes excessive, decrease application time with the aim to build it back up once the appliance is accustomed to and sensitivity subsides.

Cleaning the T4K Phase 1

The Trainer appliance should be cleaned under warm running water every time your child removes it from their mouth.
Use Myoclean™ tablets to thoroughly clean twice a week. Myoclean™ is the recommended cleaning agent for all MRC appliances.
